Four installed interpretive panels at Cache Creek, Yolo County, California.
All around Cache Creek Regional Park, where this interpretive panel is installed, you’ll see dead and dying pine trees full of holes. Acorn woodpeckers drilled the holes and filled them with acorns. These old trees are still in service.
The educational display at Cache Creek Regional Park explains what a watershed is and shows a map of the entire Cache Creek watershed. The watershed and tributaries of Cache Creek flow through Napa, Yolo, Colusa, Mendocino, and Lake Counties.
Rain hits the ground running and plants help keep it in place. This educational panel explains that leaves, stems and roots keep water in the ground and help maintain healthy soils.
The educational panel in Cache Creek Regional Park shows a watercolor of a bald eagle, two river otters, a great blue heron, and a rare fish, the California hitch. The display also explains how each animal fits into the habitat.
Evidence of the earth’s bent and twisted sediments is visible in the Cache Creek Regional Park canyon walls. The interpretive display tells of the collision between the Oceanic Plate and the Continental Plate which tipped up the edges and created the low hills seen to the north of the highway as you enter the Sacramento Valley.
